One of the twelve Jyotirlingas, also revered as a Shakti Peetha (Sati's heart), with the present temple complex substantially developed under Raja Puran Mal in the 18th century.
Uniquely combining a Jyotirlinga and Shakti Peetha in one site, it draws lakhs of kanwariyas who carry Ganga water on foot from Sultanganj during the Shravan month.
Nearest airport: Deoghar Airport. Nearest railway station: Jasidih/Baidyanath Dham, both close to the temple.
Numerous dharamshalas and hotels throughout Deoghar town.
