History & Legend

Developed in its present form in the 17th century under Kancharla Gopanna (Bhakta Ramadasu), a temple official who famously used treasury funds to build it and was imprisoned before, tradition holds, Rama himself repaid the debt.

Divine Significance

Especially renowned for its grand celebration of Sri Rama Navami, including the Seetha Rama Kalyanam (divine wedding) ceremony attended by huge crowds.
