History & Legend

One of the twelve Jyotirlingas, situated on an island shaped like the sacred 'Om' symbol at the confluence of the Narmada and Kaveri rivers; the temple has been a pilgrimage site since at least the medieval period.

Divine Significance

Pilgrims often combine a visit here with the Narmada Parikrama, a circumambulation pilgrimage along the sacred river.
