History & Legend

Built in 1694 by Ahom king Gadadhar Singha on the river's smallest inhabited island, it was later damaged by an earthquake and partly rebuilt, retaining Ahom-era carvings.

Divine Significance

Devotees consider a visit here, reached only by ferry across the Brahmaputra, spiritually significant as one of the river's most striking shrine settings.
